About
Wangui wa Goro has enjoyed a multidisciplinary life spent over forty years as a public intellectual and social critic and with engagements in many parts of the world. She is the recent recipient of many awards, the most recent being the Flora Nwapa Foundation Award. Wangui is a widely acclaimed translator, writer, poet, academic, cultural curator, and editor with a great passion for languages, literature and intersectional freedom. She considers herself an ambassador and advocate for human, social, political and cultural rights. Her friends consider her "the quintessential transnational global Pan African, feminist Afropolitan", which, though she finds hilarious, she relishes. Her works have appeared in many publications, the most recent being featured in New Daughters of Africa edited by Margaret Busby. Wangui is best known for translations of award winning authors such as Ngugi's wa and Veronique Tadjo.
