Biography

I completed my undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature at St Anne's College, Oxford. As well as developing my love of languages and creative writing, I was a co-coordinator for a local literacy program and interned as a writer for the New Statesman. I chose to study Postcolonial Literature and conducted research into South African literature, comparing the symbolic significances of disease in novels during and after apartheid. Leading from this, I am particularly interested in the changing discourse of disease and the rhetoric of health campaigns in Postcolonial societies.

Research

My research interest is in Swazi identity politics. I am researching the construction of cultural and national identity in Swaziland, and how this identity plays out across different sectors, namely tourism and development.
