Centre of African Studies

My research focussed on the system of education in Malawi in the latter half of the twentieth century. I am particularly interested in the political discourses surrounding education as a mechanism for both imperialism and development. Prior to Cambridge, I pursued a degree in International Relations and English Honours from the University of British Columbia, in western Canada. The African Studies MPhil has allowed me to widen my knowledge of African history and politics and pursue my interest in Malawian education in a structured way.
