The Cambridge Arts Picturehouse and Trinity College play host to the Third Cambridge African Film Festival.
This year we are delighted to bring to you the most cutting-edge African films ranging from Zimbabwe to Egypt to Central African Republic to Burkina Faso.
A Special Focus on South Africa Cinema will commemorate the decade since the end of apartheid, and a special programme of Early African cinema will appeal to historians, film aficionados, and anthropologists alike.

Mark Ashurst's multi-media performance piece THE PURPLE SHALL GOVERN will open the festival, and we hope will create an atmosphere in which all can debate the realities of Africa's past, present, and future.
A number of prominent African filmmakers, film theorists, and journalists will be present to introduce the films and will take part in the Symposium on African Cinema at the Trinity College Winstanley Lecture Theatre on Saturday 8th May, from 10am - 4pm.
The Symposium is free and open to the public, but you are encouraged to email Lindiwe Dovey at ld257@cam.ac.uk to reserve a place.
